[43.0%・18 Years Old・Distilled in 1981・Original Bottling・General Release]
Nose:
The mahogany and Spanish oak take a commanding lead as stickily sweet brown sugar draws out perhaps a hint of sweet smoke. There is a curious hint of acidity to the casks driven dark fruits, lime perhaps.
Palate & Finish:
A satisfying dose of concentrated sweetness from the raisins and caramel as a layer of coconut cream is laid underneath. Some banoffee notes in the mix as the dram opens up.
A stately finishing of British afternoon tea spooned with softly textured milk, hints of raspberries chiming along as well.
Thoughts:
Imagine back in the day when one would casually crack a bottle of this to share with friends at dinner parties, what legendary evenings those would be..
