Dram Review: Antique Lions of Spirits Mannochmore Aged 28 Years

[47.9%・28 Years Old・Distilled in 1988・Bottled in 2016・Joint Bottling of Jens Drewitz, Max Righi (Whisky Antique) and Diego Sandrin (Lion’s Whisky)・Single Cask Release of 267 Bottles]

Nose:

Warm salted caramel poured on creamy vanilla ice cream.  Pears, stone fruits, rice paper and toasted nuts. Incense wood in blended with shades of dried flowers in the background.

Palate & Finish:

Succulent front palate of tropical mangos, lemons and oranges with a quirky dose of bubble gum flavouring.  Quite a creamy undertone splashed with spices.

The bright citrus oil gradually fades away as the tropical notes get restrained by the oak dryness.

Thoughts:

A classy Mannochmore that just needs that little something to make it truly special.
