Nose:
Charred oak vanillin forms the vanilla presence, coating notes of lemon marmalade, hints of Italian herbs, rock salt and pepper. There is an earthiness coming out of the raw grain spirit.
Palate & Finish:
A grassy and spirit-y delivery with an acidic edge of lemons and aloe vera. Thin dose of caramel followed by tingling spices. Good texture at first but later shows its youthfulness that fares rather green.
A light finish, a mild creaminess infused with some freshly chopped wood chips.
Thoughts:
The Tiger Snake’s fundamentals are there and it could only benefit with more age under its belt.
The guys will have time to grow familiar with the stills at the new site whilst the stock continues to mature and I am excited to taste this sour mash whiskey in its final form.
