Style: Fruity and Spicy
Nose:
Hazelnut lightly dipped into chocolate with dried raisins. Lemon meringue pie, melted butter and there is some gentle honey waxiness going on. Great freshness from the spice, clean peppermint notes and a few drops of eucalyptus oil which makes it very bright and refreshing.
Palate:
Light but delightfully round delivery on the palate. Gentle forest breeze, slightly diluted honey and fresh red fruits. A surge of peppermint spice hits a resounding tone. Rhythm then slowly descends to dried fruits and nuttiness. Walnuts, almonds, raisins and figs. The oak bitterness gradually emerges, ending with dark chocolate and roasted notes.
Finish:
Honey drizzled sherry cream, raisin and oaky notes sided with a hint of vanilla and lemon tart. Delicate finish.
Thoughts:
My first Overeem, don’t see enough of it due to the incredible demand here these days… Light and delicate with the flavours amplified by the staggering strength and spice which also injects a stream of freshness with spearmint notes. Tremendous complexity, a nice transition from floral and fruity to a round and nutty tone. Well structured and neat. Enjoyable Tassie cask strength!
