Nose:
Rather expressive with the strawberry reduce and the toffee fudge, the red berries gift a refreshing acidity.
Palate & Finish:
Red berry coulis with a creamy sherry presence on the palate. Just a pinch of spices and oak coming through as well.
A slight spike in acidity leads to a rather swift finish with a hint of smoke and some rustic barley characters.
Thoughts:
Batch 3 is in keeping with the Glenborrodale brand, the seemingly more obvious and recognisable Sherry influence has made this offering quite unique and indeed quite competitive in the blended/vatted whisky scene.
