Whisky Review: Signatory Vintage Clynelish 1996 Aged 18 Years (Cask hand picked by The Whisky Exchange)

Style: Light Sherry and Honey Wax

Strawberry and rhubarb jam pouring over smooth beeswax on the nose. Sweet figs simmering as a steel slate of mineral spices placed beneath. Black peppercorns, chilli growling while back on top we have lovely honey lemon tea flowing. Chocolate malt at the deepest core.

Start from fragrant sweet figs with a splendid wave of signature Clynelish honey wax. More satisfying honey lemon tea, dry spices with ginger skin and cinnamon dust. Subtle butterscotch oil sketches out beautiful goji berries and strawberries undertone, milk chocolate while spices flickering gently towards the end.

Figs lightly drizzled with honey, wood spices churning. Start with sweet peaches and gradually going pithy as oak lingers.

The finely tuned red fruit gives a perfect complement to the honey wax, oily spirit, it adds an extra flavour dimension, and balances the spirit. This refill sherry butt has enhanced the spirit to another level – a magical 1 + 1 = 3 moment. One of my personal favourites!
